Best Homemade Pancakes from Scratch

Delicious pancakes don’t need to be made from a box. In fact, the recipe is super simple and even more delicious from scratch. This staple breakfast item will not only be our favorite, it will be yours too.

There are 9 simple ingredients, which I group them as dry and wet ingredients. In a mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients. King Arthur’s unbleached all purpose flour, baking powder, salt, a pinch of Organic Cane Sugar and Cinnamon. Be careful not to add too much salt. Make sure to give it a quick whisk.

The wet ingredients are melted butter (unsalted), 1 egg, milk, and vanilla. I like to use the Pyrex glass measuring cup with the handled for this. Starting with the butter, I melt this in the microwave for 30-40 seconds, give it a stir with a fork. If its not melted, put it back in the microwave for another ten seconds. Then you want to add the egg, beat the egg into the butter before adding the milk and splash of vanilla.

Pour the wet ingredients over the dry the ingredients and let it sit for 20 minutes.

Once you are ready, grease the pan using butter. Scoop in about 1/4 cup of batter. If you are going to add toppings inside of the pancakes, now is your time. In our home we just have fun, the kids love adding M&Ms, Reese’s Pieces or even gummy bears. You can also go more traditional and add basics like chocolate chips or blueberries. Others have added bacon, the base of the pancake remains the same.

When you start seeing the air bubbles, flip it over. It only take a minute or so on each side to cook. Super delicious, easy, and healthier than boxed pancakes. Top with butter and Maple Syrup. Enjoy!
