Brioche French Toast

Breakfast any time of the day is a winner, especially when it involves a delicious, fluffy, warm Brioche French Toast. Sunday brunch is not complete without the Sweet and Savory combo. This recipe is super simple, much more affordable to cook at home, and might I dare say it, tastes way better. The secret ingredient for this recipe is to use slices of French Brioche Loaf. I particularly recommend the Trader Joe’s Braided & Sliced Brioche Loaf.

As you know, it’s not always easy going out for brunch. Not only do you have to wait over an hour or more but the service also runs behind. Trying to go with larger groups adds extra time and complexity. Brunch with our friends has now become a regular thing and Brioche French Toast is one of their favorites.

The prep work is super easy and cook time doesn’t take long either that you can be cranking these out fairly quickly. Especially if you have griddle and cook at least 6 at a time. Perfect for hosting brunch.

Ingredients

  • Sliced French Brioche Loaf

  • 1 Cup of Milk

  • 1 Egg

  • Cinnamon

  • Nutmeg

  • Organic Cane Sugar

  • Vanilla

  • Pinch of Salt

  • Unsalted Butter

  • Powdered Sugar (Optional)

  • Maple Syrup

Directions

  • In a small baking dish, add 1 cup of milk, 1 egg, cinnamon, nutmeg, organic can sugar, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Whisk with a fork.
  • Preheat a skillet on medium heat. Lower the heat to medium-low and add butter.
  • One or two at a time, depending on the size of the skillet, dip your sliced french brioche into the mixture and place on the skillet.
  • Cook until golden brown. Flip over and do the same.
  • Top with Powdered Sugar (Optional) and Maple Syrup.

Notes

  • If you have griddle, you can make up to 6 slices at a time. Please keep in mind that the temperature of the griddle will be hotter directly under the flame so account for longer cook time for the middle.
