Mocha Milkshake

Beat the summer with this delicious treat. Milkshakes are rich, creamy, and cold making it perfect for a hot summer day. Mocha milkshakes are no exception especially for coffee lovers.

Milkshakes are easy to make at home as long as you have a good blender. We use the Ninja Professional. The basic ingredients are vanilla ice cream and milk or heavy cream. Heavy cream will just give it a thicker, richer consistency but either will work. You can then add whatever toppings or syrups you want. To make a Mocha Milkshake we are going to mimic a traditional Mocha. Mochas are made with espresso, milk and chocolate syrup. For this recipe, we will use the ice cream and heavy cream base then add a shot of espresso and chocolate syrup.

To ensure that the consistency stays creamy and thick, make sure to chill your espresso before adding to the mix. It would be ideal to make the shot espresso and leave it in the refrigerator overnight. However, this is a treat that would probably want to make on a whim. After making the shot of espresso put it in the freezer to chill. For the chocolate syrup we used a the traditional Hershey’s syrup. Syrups will be easier than powder as it will blend in better.

Enhance the recipe by adding ingredients like Oreos. This would make the mocha milkshake more like a Mudd Pie. You can also try using white chocolate syrup to mimic a White Mocha. Or even better, use both chocolate syrups to create a Tuxedo Mocha Milkshake. Customizing milkshakes at home is really easy. Top it with whipped cream, drizzle syrups, or add sprinkles.

You will find that this recipe will have you questioning why you are buying milkshakes from restaurant. Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
